Land Park, CA
The history of Land Park is fun and fascinating. In 1911, the mayor of Sacramento, William Land, left the city a large sum of money upon his death to buy land for a city park. The city purchased a 238-acre tract that became multiple neighborhoods: Land Park, Oak Park, McKinley Park, and Curtis Park, with Land Park being the last to be developed.
Most of the houses in Land Park were built around 1935. The Sacramento Zoo and William Land Golf Course opened shortly after. Visitors and tourists can enjoy these attractions today, along with the Fairytale Town, Funderland, and others.
Tower Theatre, which dates from 1938, is an iconic building in the city and attracts tourists from the area year-round. It is the oldest remaining and continuously running movie palace in the state.
Land Park continues to thrive year after year, with more families coming into the area thanks to its vicinity to Sacramento, high work opportunities, and peaceful environment to raise children.
